tigh me up

(no subject)

It's when I'm weary of considerations,
And life is too much like a pathless wood
Where your face burns and tickles with the cobwebs
Broken across it, and one eye is weeping
From a twig's having lashed across it open.
I'd like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.

Sahara Hotnights

are back in my good books. Currently enjoying Cheek to Cheek, but The Loneliest City of All (about Tokyo) reminds me of Lost in Translation (thuh movie) in a good way, and Visit to Vienna is fun too. Maybe they just put me in a summery mood!

Go listen to the girls

In which I study the lawnmower manual

Was mowing the lawn happily... Tra la la... When the engine cut out. On priming it to try and restart, it felt like it was empty of fuel.

Call me a total girl, but how the hell does one buy a teensy amount of petrol? Do I need to get a canister? WTF - can anyone help??

So simple, so yum :o)

For the first time this year...

...there is actual heat in the sun! It's roasting through the south-facing windows. My rosemary plant is basking :o)

Absolutely lovely outside - fresh and clear, but not cold at all.

Ceramics

Today was actually fun at ceramics class. I was inspired, and kept busy the whole four hours.

Looking forward to seeing how the things fire up! A couple of them are quirky, and one of them is plain weird :o)

Villi Pohjola

There was a scratchy, scrabbling sound outside my office window now - thought it was a raven or magpie stomping around. Then I saw a furry orange tail hanging over the gutter! A squirrel. Too cute and furry. Those ear tufts are the BEST.

For some reason I seem to think [info]maddarilke may get a kick out of this :o)

And anyone who's American, or who has read Judy Blume's books...

The Lake Isle of Innisfree, by William Butler Yeats

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements gray,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.

Over and out

I'm off to the farm first thing tomorrow, and I won't have much net access until Sunday (when I get back) so I probably won't be posting this week.
